The recently announced Nokia N9 MeeGo mobile phone, which has many people excited, may not be released in the UK according to some of the latest speculation.

The source of this comes down to the Nokia N9 availability update page which users are able to register on to be told when the N9 would be release in their country, however only the following countries are listed: Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Malaysia, New Zealand, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia,Serbia, Singapore, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE and Vietnam.

Countries missing from the list include: UK, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Netherlands, USA and Canada. These are major markets for Nokia, so it is rather a surprise if the N9 is not released in these countries.

We contacted Nokia to see if we could find out any more information, the response we received was: ‘Nokia has not announced availability of the N9 as yet.’

However the first countries to receive the first Nokia Windows Phone 7 mobile phone are UK, Italy, Spain, Germany, France and Netherlands. So it could be that the N9 has been sidelined in these countries in favour of the Windows Phone 7 device. Though we would prefer to see an N9 instead.
