Sony Ericsson Zylo Review
Sony Ericsson Zylo
User Rating: The Sony Ericsson Zylo is a standard mid-range slide mobile phone with Walkman functionality. The phone looks stylish and slick, with curved edges and a metallic matt finish. However it does feel rather plasticy. The front of the phone slides up smoothly to reveal a standard mobile phone keypad, with soft feel keys. The operating system is very easy to use and will be familiar to those who already use a standard Sony Ericsson mobile phone or has used one in the past.
The main feature of this phone is its music playing capabilities, as this has been labelled as a Walkman phone, it comes loaded with Sony Ericsson's Walkman software. The sound quality is great for a mobile, and it supports a wide variety of music formats, including the high definition FLAC format. The Walkman player also allows users to change the background and our favourite is the cassette which has the name of the track as its label and the cassette tape moves, bringing some fun to the phone.
Whilst on the subject of music and sound, another fun little feature is the abilty to play music in the background of a call, so a caller can hear what you are listening to or it can be used to trick. The phone comes with sounds such as airport noises, allowing users to pretend they are at an airport.
The camera has no flash or autofocus, with pictures looking sometimes grainy. Texting on the phone is easy, and for those used to using a keypad it will be simple. There are also some social networking apps, and some fun games to play.
However there are a few small disappointments with this phone. Being a Walkman phone, we would have expected a 3.5mm headphone jack, but there is not one on the phone. Having to either listen to music using the budget headphones provided or buy an adaptor. Also with a Walkman phone, putting music onto it should be a simple and easy task. However without a USB to phone cable in the box, this is not easy.
Overall we really enjoyed using this phone and it is quite a fun little mobile, with some unique features. Ideal for those looking for an easy to use budget mobile phone perhaps as their first phone, or a slide phone with music playing features.
Summary:
- Good Points: Stylish, easy to use, fun
- Bad Points: no 3.5mm headphone jack, no USB cable in box
- Others to Consider: Nokia 9700 Slide
