Samsung Genio Slide Review
Samsung Genio Slide
User Rating: The Samsung Genio Slide is the third phone in the youth focused Genio range. It is a combination of the original Genio Touch and the Genio Qwerty. As the phone is part of the Genio range, it has the same style and curveness as previous Genio phones, and looks virtually identical to the Genio Touch. It is however a bit heavier and thicker than the Touch as it features a slide out Qwerty keyboard, as well as a full touchscreen. It also has changeable back covers.
The user interface is the same easy to use interface as the original Genio Touch, with access to various social networks such as Facebook and Myspace. The touchscreen still suffers from the over responsiveness / not always responsive enough issue as with the Touch.
The Genio Slide however is a vast improvement over both the Touch and Qwerty. It features 3G and WiFi, making browsing the internet possible, and also comes with a BBC iPlayer app. The slide out Qwerty keyboard is also a welcome addition, and well built, with the buttons the right size for easy typing. The camera has been upgraded to 3 megapixels, which offers a little quality boost over the previous Genio models. It also has GPS functionality.
Overall the Samsung Genio Slide is in our opinion the best phone in the Genio range. It is stylish and basic, good for social networking, and for those looking for a budget touchscreen phone this one should be considered.
Summary:
- Good Points: Stylish, WiFi
- Bad Points: Touchscreen
- Others to consider: Motorola DEXT
- Free on contract with: Vodafone
