The Samsung Genio Qwerty (aka Corby txt) is another phone from the youth-aimed Genio range, but it is very different.

The phone has a Qwerty keypad with no touchscreen, but retains the stylishness of its curved edges and changeable covers, as featured on other Genio models. It also has a bit more of a stylish front, with some bright yellow around the main navigation button and on the keypad. It does look a little more serious with its BlackBerry style, but still gives the impression of being a fun mobile phone.

The operating system is very easy to use and navigate. As the phone does not have a touchscreen, it is back to basics using the navigation button, which suits this phone well. However the Qwerty keypad is small, and its easy to press more than one key. Though it does come with a keypad training game which helps a user get used to using the keypad.

The camera quality is not the best and is only 2 megapixels. Images are often dark and sometimes blurred, but useful for quick simple snaps. The phone provides access to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, however there is no 3G or WiFi support on the phone, resulting in slow access. There is also a reasonable music and video and an FM radio.

Overall the Samsung Genio Qwerty is a stylish, fun looking Qwerty keypad phone, and for those looking for something similar on a budget, this would be worth considering.

Summary:

  • Good Points: Easy to use, stylish, budget
  • Bad Points: no 3G or WiFi
  • Others to consider: BlackBerry Bold 9000
