With the Bold, BlackBerry have continued in their trend for QWERTY keyboard based organiser phones, and this is fairly stylish. This 3G phone is truly everything that one has come to expect from the designers at BlackBerry.

The QWERTY keyboard style mobile is now most synonymous with BlackBerrys, with Nokia most recently wading into the market. However, BlackBerry still do it best, and if it isn’t broken then why fix it, it’s certainly been a recipe for success. Also, having the fully functioning keyboard allows for very easy browsing of the internet, as well as writing both texts and emails. For the modern business person this is a very handy feature, and that’s one of the main reasons for BlackBerry’s popularity.

This BlackBerry has a good amount of memory too, 1gb to be precise, and as with other BlackBerry handsets this has the option to be expanded to 8gb with a microSD card, meaning there’s more than enough storage for all your needs. The Bold can also be used, like all modern phones, as a music player or video player, both being multi-format compatible. It has a pretty good battery life as well, so it will last you for a good while during the busiest of schedules.

Unfortunately, as good as BlackBerrys are, they are often let down in the camera stakes, and this is no exception to that rule. This phone has a disappointing 2 megapixel camera, which is poor by modern standards.

All in all, this is a good phone in many ways, if you’re not a photographer; as with any BlackBerry, this will more likely appeal to those in business.

Summary:

  • Good Points: Good memory and good battery life.
  • Bad Points: The camera is unfortunately a letdown.
  • Others to Consider: BlackBerry 9500 Storm, Nokia E71.
  • Free on Contract with: Orange, 3, T-Mobile & Vodafone.
