The Apple iPhone 3GS is here, the highly anticipated and improved big brother of the initial iPhone 3G. Loyal followers and gadget lovers will not be disappointed, this is a faster and more powerful piece of kit.

Building on the previous model, the 3GS user will have access to even more applications, literally hundreds of them. But more importantly the basic improvements to the unit itself, making it more flexible and user friendly than its prior counterpart.

Firstly Apple have ironed out the battery life issue, with the new model offering longer life. Next up, the user can now send multimedia messages, something that was strangely missing from the previous model. Apple have also boosted the built in camera, with a “tap to focus” feature through a 3 megapixel execution. On top of this the camera can also offer quality video recording with the ability to cut and edit your clips, a fun and intuitive tool which sits well with the massive multimedia capabilities of the new iPhone 3GS.

All in all this is a faster, smarter more user friendly iPhone, it will stand alone in the smart phone stakes as a real status and music phone. unfortunately it still remains more of a multimedia experience rather than a mobile phone, what it has in entertainment means that it can be disappointing when performing as a phone, which makes this expensive as a replacement for your current mobile.

  • Good Points – Unbelievable Multimedia capabilities
  • Bad points – Call quality, 3G reception and battery life not the best
  • Also try – Blackberry or Palm Pre PDA's
  • Available only on O2 from £35 a month contract for base 8GB model
